My First Ever Rabbit

My First Ever Rabbit

I remember when I decided I wanted a rabbit. It was one afternoon when my mum and I went to go by some dog food from our local pet shop Dee's Pets. I'd never even thought about owning a rabbit until I saw this little white rabbit. Her story said she was abandoned at a shelter by a breeder, who didn't want her because of her red eyes. Red eyes don't make a difference in my opinion, so this upset me and got me thinking. The next week we went back and I asked a lady who worked there "what happened to the bunny". She told me she found a home. That couldn't have made me happier!

Anyway as I said this got me thinking about getting a rabbit. So I was dropping hints to my parents for months about getting one but nothing worked! I did hours and hours of research and made a presentation on "Why I should be allowed a rabbit". They then said YES but after we move house! I was so excited!

It took us 6 months to finally move house! A long process. We moved in on the 7th of April 2014 and I got my first rabbit on the 14th of April 2014. I remember picking her out from a bunch because of her eyes.

She was a female mini lop. She had big blue eyes and grey silky fur. She was the size of my hand and only 8 weeks when we got her.  I wanted so much to play with her all day the first day i had her but the breeder I got her from said to leave her to settle in, which I really suggest doing when getting a new rabbit.

The next day it was one of my good friends birthday sleepover, which had been booked in for ages! So I told my mum exactly what to do and even wrote it down for her!

The next day my mum picked me up from my friends house a bit early so she could take me to my doctors appointment(I have a bad knee). Anyway after the appointment when we went back to the car, I knew something was wrong. I thought for a second it was my grandad and already started to cry but then she just said "Indigo" and I knew what had happened.

Indigo-Blu my rabbit passed away on the 16th of April 2014. We will never know what happened to her but I was absolutely devastated when i found out. I had her for 2 days.

I was given the choice to take her to a rabbit sanctuary and for her ashes to be spread with other rabbits, bury her or take her to the vets to find out what went wrong. I didn't want to know what went wrong because whatever it was I could have helped and I didn't. I decided to bury her in a pot in my garden and plant a tree there for her to be remembered by.

It took me 3 months to decide whether I wanted another rabbit and I did get another, Rio. I was terrified when I got him and still am but I don't regret it.

Even too this day I miss Indigo-Blu so much. India was named after her since she reminds me of her so much, they would have been half sisters.

The one thing I found out about having Indigo-Blu was that there is no correct timing too fall in love. It's different for everyone. I fell in love with her the first day I got her but sadly only got to show her my love for 2 days. I still love her.

RIP Indigo-Blu

Pets at home haul/reviews

Pets at home haul/reviews

So for the people who don't know 'pets at home' is a really well known, famous pet shop in the UK. It sells things for really any kind of pet! Things from cleaning products, to hutches, to food and so much more! It is a great store.

My Products

Red Berry Sticks
These are the red berry sticks, priced at £2.50 but nearly always have a deal on! These are really good treats for your rabbits, if given as treats. Too many can cause weight and teeth problems. These are quite expensive but I only give one to my rabbits about once a month, so not too bad! And Rio and India adore them!

Burgess Excel Tasty Nuggets Adult Rabbit Food
This is my rabbits everyday pellet, purchased at £5 for 2kg but at the moment it has a 20% off deal on it. It is just a plain pellet which are better for rabbits than muesli ones with dried fruits. My rabbits seem to enjoy eating this and they go mental when they here me shake the nuggets around in the bowl!

Fruit and Veg Chews for Small Animals

These are the fruit and veg chews priced at £2.00 from Pets at Home. I bought these chews thinking they looked really sweet but my rabbits paid no interest at all in these. I'm not saying they're a bad or faulty product, it's just my rabbits had no interest in them at all!

Vita Sport Willow Tunnel
My bunnies have had 2 of these tunnels. I think they are just a really fun toy, which will give your rabbits hours of fun but they don't last forever though! I think they must be quite tasty to bunnies! This is £14.99 online but I'm sure i got mine for £5, since I'd never spend that much on a toy. They probably sell these anywhere!

Red Polka Dot Bowl
This bowl is actually a cats bowl! I just bought it because it's adorable. I swore I bought it for £4 but it says £2 on the website! I bought the red one because I couldn't resist the cuteness! Also this bowl is great because its ceramic so doesn't knock over, when bunnies are clumsy!

So I hope you enjoyed this different style of blog. I thought I would try something a bit different! Anyway please follow, give a like and leave a comment! Also please go follow my instagram and send me an email! My sister has just made a blog and I would really appreciate it if you gave her a like her blog is called: golfygirl4.blogspot.com

New Bunny!

Hello Every'bun! I'm so sorry that I haven't blogged in ages so much has been happening in my life! (Excuses! Excuses!) But now things are calming down and I would really like to start doing a blog each week maybe even more! So much has happened and the one main thing is that Rio has not got a buddy!

Yes, yes i got a new rabbit and her name is India! She is a mini lop as well as Rio! She is a bit smaller than Rio but has grown so much in just a few months! She used to be the size of my hand (and i have really small hands!) She is a lovely little girl and is about 8 months old. I do think it is best to adopt rabbits but I'm not judging anyone who bought there rabbit from a pet store because India is from a breeder, the same breeder as where Rio came from but Rio was one she took in. I just saw India and fell in love with her since she reminded me so much of my first ever rabbit.

I will be getting her neutered in the new year because she is very, very excitable. Also you may not know but female rabbits are especially pron to cancer and obviously i don't want that, so neutering limits the chances!

Anyway I promise I will blog more but I really need some inspiration...so please get people looking at my blogs and tell me if there is anything specific you'd like me to blog about!

Thank you for reading! Please follow xx
